Classic pear drop and almonds abound on this crisp dry white from Italy. Pinot Grigio is developing a cult following of late and this is an excellent example.
Cousino Macul ‘Dona Isidora Riesling 2006, Chile £18.00
At its best Riesling produces superb wines that are now so often overlooked because many people confuse them with sickly sweet wines from Germany. Slowly but surely the Riesling revival is on, and wines like this from one of Chile’s oldest and best producers offer exciting alternatives to the often boring myriad of Sauvignon Blanc’s that take up much of today’s shelf space.

The undisputed leader of Sauvignon, New Zealand produces a myriad of styles. Old Coach Road has developed an impressive reputation for delivering more flavours for the pound and we can’t get enough! Delicious.
Chablis Domaine Suzanne Reynard 2007, J Durup, France £22.50
There are thousands of Chablis produced each year, all with marked differences. To find a good one, you need to look beyond the word ‘Chablis’ on the label and find out who makes it. Jean Durup is an excellent Domaine producing classic, flinty and mineral styled Chablis with a great purity of fruit. This shows Chardonnay in its lightest, crispest form.
Soave Inama 2007, Italy £22.50
The best producer in Soave and incomparable to the cut-price rubbish that litters the average supermarket shelves. More expensive than ‘normal’ Soave because it’s made from low yielding Garganega grapes rather than ‘weed-like’ Trebbiano. This is a stunning example of a classic wine.
Fairhall Downs Sauvignon Blanc 2006 Marlborough, New Zealand £23.00

La Zerba Gavi Tassarolo ‘Terrarossa’ 2006 £25.00
Terrarossa soil is the same as you would find in Coonawarra – rich red limestone – and gives lovely minerally characteristics to this wine which is almost Chablis-like. Unoaked and zesty, a fabulously unique wine made from the Cortese grape in the commune of Tassarolo within the area of Gavi.

Ripe tropical fruits with pineapple, toast characters and a lovely clean, dry, elegant finish. A medium to full bodied style with soft acidity and tasteful use of oak.
Porter Mill Chenin Blanc 2007, South Africa £14.95
Porter Mill is a relative newcomer to our shores. This, along with the fantastic Shiraz offers superb expressions of grape variety, purity of fruit and brilliant winemaking.. Medium bodied with honeysuckle, greengage, and crisp acidity.

Ripe peach and melon characters abound on this lovely Aussie Chardonnay. Shows good complexity and is full and rounded, with judicious use of oak.

Weemala Pinot Gris 2007, Australia £21.00
Offering a perfect opportunity to experience something you may otherwise overlook, tasting like a ripe Pinot Grigio (both the same grape) this wine is super for sunny afternoon sipping. Good presence of fruit with strong aromatics, zesty melon, citrus and lime with a little more body than its Italian cousin.
Bourgogne ‘Les Setilles’ 2006 Olivier Leflaive, Burgundy, France £23.95
Grapes for this incredible wine are sourced from Leflaive’s lower slopes of Puligny and Meursault. Legally not allowed to call itself either due to AOC laws, this has to be one of the best value white Burgundies we know of! Don’t miss.
Logan Chardonnay 2006, Orange, Australia £26.95
From one of the region’s best, this stylish Chardonnay epitomises great cool climate Australian wine. Pale straw in colour, with a slight green hue. The wine has aromas of pear and orange rind. The palate combines peach, lime and cashew with a long mineral finish. Ideal with chicken!
Pouilly Fuissé 2006 “Metertières”, Domaine Drouin Burgundy £36.00
Planted on ideal soils, this fantastic Pouilly Fuissé is one of the stars of the region. Only tiny quantities make their way to our shores. Low yielding vines and lees ageing creates a full-bodied, rounded, mouth filling wine of exceptional quality.
Montagne Noirre Grenache Rose 2007 £14.50
The Grenache grape is ideally suited to making Rose as it produces generous ripe rounded flavours whilst still retaining some fresh acidity. This is one of the best we have come across exhibiting Red Fruits along with floral notes and is beautifully balanced.
Rattlesnake Canyon White Zinfandel 2007 £14.50
Jam packed with ripe strawberries, juicy kiwi fruit and watermelons and a lingering finish reminiscent of nectarines this Rose offers a mouth filling refreshing aperitif.
Beaujolais Village 2006 Domaine de Colette, France. £17.50
Although only labelled Beaujolais Village, this wine could easily be mistaken for Beaujolais of more illustrious ‘Cru Beaujolais’ quality. Mouth filling with wonderful soft berry fruits, and nice length.

Fairhall Downs Pinot Noir 2004, Marlborough NZ £39.00
Hand picked low yielding vines culminates in intense Black cherries, spicy vanilla tones and fine tannins. Beautifully structured with silky tannins and hints of vanilla and spice. Outstanding value and the pinnacle of NZ Pinot Noir.
Eloise Merlot 2006 Vin de Pays d’Oc France - £12.95
This has a greater depth of fruit than one normally associates with Merlot. Soft plummy and very gluggable.
Los Almendros Carmenere (Fair Trade) 2007, Chile £13.95
Carmenere is fast becoming Chile’s answer to Australian Shiraz. This rich, spicy, smooth wine has gentle tannins and plenty of warm black fruit characters. Ideal with lamb or beef.
Porter Mill Shiraz 2007 South Africa £15.50
A delicious Shiraz and a refreshing change from Australian styles. Intense mulberry and hints of spice combine to make an eminently drinkable full bodied wine.
Lauriers d’Or Cotes du Rhone 2006 £15.95
So often Cotes du Rhone can be boring, cheap and a waste of money but we urge you to try our Cote du Rhone because it screams of character, quality and value. Oodles of spicy blueberries, soft tannins and an overall savoury profile make this really well suited to any meat dish.
La Copa Tempranillo 2006, Campo de Borja £16.50
Masses of soft, lush and ripe summer fruit flavours and aromas abound in this remarkable wine. Campo de Borja, lies at the same latitude as Rioja but is far nearer sea level and so is much warmer. This results in softer wines where the emphasis is on fruit rather than structure. Delicious.
Domaine Andre Brunel Grenache 2006, France £16.95
From the maker of some of the Rhone’s top Chateauneuf du Pape, this wine is the essence of the flavoursome Grenache grape (the main grape behind Chateauneuf du Pape). Elegant, medium bodied with hints of dark cherries and plums.

A classic blend made popular by producers in Cote Rotie and now in Australia. Soft plummy notes and oodles of black fruit make this a thoroughly enjoyable wine to drown out the taste of over grilled BBQ food.
Hooley Dooley 2004, Mclaren Vale, Australia £22.95
Australian for ‘more please’, which is exactly the phrase needed after drinking this little cracker, made in the style of claret but with added factors like Eucalyptus to heighten the senses.

Ripe black fruit with background hints of bell pepper. An elegant wine with gentle tannins and a great accompaniment for all meat dishes.
Apple Tree Flat Shiraz 2004 £16.95
Ripe black fruits dominate on the nose with hints of spice. This full-bodied Shiraz is from the Mudgee region of Australia. The palate shows some raspberries and the finish is long, mouth filling and smooth.

Quite simply the best Pinotage we have come across in recent times. Rich and spicy with brambly fruit flavours. Smooth and organic to boot, this full-bodied wine will accompany most meat dishes and would be an ideal partner for cheese.

This Negroamaro based wine is renowned for offering full-bodied and possesses oodles of plum and berry like fruit. A fantastic silky wine that shows that Italy isn’t just about Barolo, Chianti and Amarone!

Australia Cabernet has come on leaps and bounds in recent times and compared to the home of Cabernet – Bordeaux – now offers great value. Cassis, creamy and smooth best sums up this little beauty.

A powerful rounded full bodied offering from this boutique, yet highly regarded producer. A blend of Shiraz, Carignan and Grenache and a touch of Viognier combine to create a warm, spicy, blueberry dominant wine that is ideal for strong foods.
Epsilon Coalsack Shiraz 2005 Barossa Valley, Australia £31.50
Epsilon is just what it is supposed to be - a big and intense Shiraz with the pure essence of ripe Barossa Valley fruit. Its coats the palate with plum, cherry and fresh blackberries just picked off the bush and a touch of chocolate and spice. It is a concentrated and a real crowd pleaser. 91 Points Robert Parker.

This is many people’s benchmark for high class Crozes. Offering intense rich, black fruit flavours and flawlessly smooth tannins, despite its youth, it is drinking beautifully right now. A treat!.

It is so easy to forget the wonders that sweet wines can offer and for a variety of reasons, sales in recent times have dwindled. This is a shame as good examples can provide either a great start or finish to a memorable meal. 2001 is a fantastic year for Sauternes and we believe Tuyttens to be cracking wine and in a half bottle format, the ideal size to put a smile on any face!
Elysium Black Muscat 2003, California, USA (Half bottles) £18.50
This wine has developed somewhat of a cult following in recent years. A rich sweet fortified wine, Elysium is one of the best-known matches for any chocolate-based dessert. We also think it is rather nice to drink on its own!

Big, rich and friendly with quite a weighty finish. Melon and peach flavours and complimented by judicious use of oak ageing, this wine is a must for fans of high quality Aussie Chardonnay.
